On June 13, our general meeting took place in the foyer of the Rhein-Neckar-Theater in Mannheim-Neckarau. The event provided a comprehensive opportunity to reflect on the activities and developments of the past year, to pay tribute to the voluntary work and a wonderful setting to honor our long-standing members.
Overview of important developments and projects
The Chairman of the Regional Board, Peter Piesche, and Managing Director Joachim Schmid provided information on the activities and overall situation of our organization with 700 full-time employees and 22,000 members. Joachim Schmid reported on various projects such as the "Expansion of the Mannheim-Käfertal rescue station" construction project and participation in the ASB diversity project. Treasurer Peter Schmid presented the annual financial statements, and the Local Control Commission (OKK) certified that the accounts were properly kept. Deputy Chairman Steffen Schmid also reported on the status of volunteer work in the various areas and the Workers' Samaritan Youth presented their activities and successes. Finally, regional doctor Christoph Nießner reported on the developments of the ASB Baden-Württemberg regional association, to which our regional association makes a significant contribution. With more than 7,000 care places, ASB Baden-Württemberg will be one of the top 30 operators of retirement homes in Germany in 2023 and 2024, for example.
Honoring 30- and 40-year anniversaries
The special highlight of our general meeting was the honouring of our long-standing members - those who have been loyal to ASB Mannheim/Rhine-Neckar for 30 and 40 years were presented with the ASB gold and silver badge of honour for their continued support and outstanding commitment. Without the support of our members, it would not be possible for us to carry out our work as an aid and welfare organization to this extent!
Special thanks also for the words of greeting from former Mannheim City Prince Jochen I, whose sparkling wine "Mannem Vorne" was presented as a gift.
