"Lantern lantern" - great joy for young and old:

Kindergarten visits the ASB facility "Parkresidenz am Neckar" in Heidelberg-Ziegelhausen for St. Martin's Day

"Laterne Laterne" - cheerful children's voices resound in the garden of the retirement home Parkresidenz am Neckar. It is the children of the Protestant kindergarten Schlierbach who have come by for a visit with their lanterns. A small St. Martin's procession that causes great joy. The residents are standing on the balconies, clapping and waving. Some are moved to tears; "I would so love to cuddle you," one resident calls out to the children. But cuddling is unfortunately not possible. "Because of Corona, of course, we have to be very careful to keep our distance," says Mechthild Hübner, nursing services at Parkresidenz. Especially now, with numbers on the rise, she says, caution is paramount. "We are so happy about this visit," adds Hübner, "our seniors here have had to do without so much since Corona." An open-air visit is ideal, especially when the sun is shining.

"Chickens" and "Ducks" from the Protestant Kindergarten Schlierbach

The children who bravely walked across the bridge from Schlierbach to Ziegelhausen belong to the "chickens" and "ducks" groups. They are between the ages of three and six. They also proudly show their self-made lanterns. After four songs, there is a reward: the ASB facility gives each child a "Martin's man" and a small toy. The delicious cookies are immediately nibbled on in the garden. After all, such a trip across the bridge makes one hungry. "Tastes very good," says one little girl.

Meetings, variety and fun are important in retirement homes

"In our facilities, we attach great importance to care and support with a heart" emphasizes Joachim Schmid, Managing Director of ASB Baden-Württemberg e.V. Region Mannheim/Rhein-Neckar. He says that games and conversations are important in everyday life, and that small events during the week are always welcome. In all ASB facilities, there are also regular handicraft or gymnastics groups and many employment opportunities. The ASB Mannheim/Rhein-Neckar operates five senior citizens' homes, three of which are in the Rhein-Neckar district and two in Heidelberg, as well as a senior citizens' advisory service and offers for outpatient care services, day care and assisted living. In the "Parkresidenz am Neckar " facility, 75 places are available for fully inpatient care, and 20 apartments are offered in the assisted living sector. The new building, which will be completed in July 2019, has modern and bright rooms, some with a view of the Neckar River. There are spacious lounge areas in each of the six residential groups, and the dining area in each residential group is equipped with an open kitchen. The ASB Mannheim/Rhine-Neckar Region in Heidelberg-Ziegelhausen currently employs 75 people.
